As the Northland Facilitator I focus on working with Deaf Clients to identify their specific needs and coordinate services to meet those needs. I visit people either in their homes, at Day Agencies, at Work and Income Offices or in my office in Whangarei. I have a client base which currently encompasses the area from Warkworth and Dargaville to Kaitaia. I complete assessments with Deaf community members, provide immediate services where appropriate, develop service plans, work with mainstream providers so they become more Deaf friendly and match community members with providers who match their needs. I also advocate for and support Deaf people and help people assess specialist equipment. I am also available to provide information for Deaf Senior Citizens to live independent active lives including information on retirement plans, financial assistance, recreational outings and activities etc. Please contact your local office to make an appointment with one of our Facilitators.
